So I know not all parakeets/budgies with allow their owner (s) to touch or pet them. But I think my parakeet might allow me to if she's taught because she's a fast learner.. What should I do to show her that it's ok if I pet/touch her? Thanks

Budgies *DO* rock... a ton of parrot in a tiny body!

Getting parrots to do anything that they are not naturally inclined to want to do usually involves using some type of food based treat. Figure out what your buggie's ultimate most favorite food or treat is. Stop. That now is your training /reward tool, to be given only as a reward. Its usually some kind of seed or nut, but may well be fruit or other food, you have to figure it out, cuz its different for each bird. Now you can implement all that great info you found, searching this wonderful web board.

Some other tips on training. Be like religiously consistent, once you settle on what the goal is. What the command will be , how the treat is presented, how much, when, where and who. What to do when the command is refused. Break the trick or action down into small pieces. So if you want the bird to pick up the blue ring and put onto the blue post, teach him how to pick up riings and separately teach the colors. Once he has both THEN combine the two.

Good luck and welcome to the best parrot board on the whole Internet!
