Pet trackers?

Hello! I hope the holiday was well for all of you! :red1:

I have a rather weird question. I was hearing horror stories of lost parrots, parrots that escaped, or parrots that were stolen. I am a super paranoid person, and I rather be prepared than be sorry. I was researching some pet trackers, specifically the Paw Tracker that you can attach to a collar or even an aviator harness.

Would this work if it is only used outside? I wouldnt use it inside the home, just whenever my parrot goes for a walk. I am hoping to attach the tracker to my parrot's harness on the back, so he can't chew it. Have any of you used a tracker with success?

Tracking equipment requires a power source, most commonly batteries, and as you know, they have a defined life! So, you will need to remove the devise and install a new power source.

This type of technology has been getting smaller over the last several years. At present, the mid to large Parrots could wear such a devise. That said, there are major issues as to whether your Parrot will allow it to be placed on them and /or not to make small pieces of it!

Since I have not idea where you are in this huge World you are and whether this device placed on a Parrot, in and of itself, will meet the legal requires of your city, county, state or region as a stated of property is not possible. As a general statement, the device is clearly in plan view and easy to remove by anyone.

So, if your goal is to simply find your Parrot near your home and quickly after loss, sure! Once, past the power source life or once removed by someone it becomes of no use.

In North America and in Europe the 'Micro Chip' is the only device that the legal system will accept as 'Proof of Ownership.'

I think right now they're probably not that great. If it has to be attached to a harness on the bird then the bird is wearing a harness and can't fly off so it makes the tracker a moot point.

Saying that I'm certain in a few years we'll have tiny trackers that get surgically planted under the skin which feed a tiny power source off of the birds own electrical current which would be an awesome thing for all pets to have, effectively stopping thefts and finding lost pets in minutes
