Has anyone checked into or have pet insurance for their birds I was looking into it and was wondering if it is a good idea and worth it or not a good idea as far as too much money or does,nt cover most major problems Whats your opinions on this Thanks Rick:blue1:

I called VPI and it was a great deal we will be getting all our birds covered. It is $12 a month per bird and they cover 90 percent of the bills after a very small deductable (i think it was $50)

Having spent 100s & 100s of dollars on my previous bird I looked at getting it for Shadow but unfortunately I could only find cover for dogs & cats here in Aust. At the moment even for 4-legged members of the family it's a little too pricey for me with so many pets. I worked out for all of them to be covered I'd be paying approx $300/mth with bird and snakes excluded (that's on top of $280/mth for humans) so it's not worth it but I definately think it's a good idea and will be keeping an eye on premiums to see if they fall in the near future.

True if you have many pets may not be worth it.

pet insurance is still a little "unconventional" but having experienced first hand the heartbreak of how the monetary aspect can influence medical choices--I feel that it is worth it. I've seen it save lives

Hi bluetoast I am also going to enroll in VPI PET INSURANCE i call about 4 days ago and ask them how much to insure 7 birds and they said it would be $ 13.00 per bird a month which for me is about $95.00 a month I am gonna call them in about another week to talk to them again about the routine plan you can add for more coverage
