I wanted to join a Parrot forum in hopes to get some ideas from everyone to deal with our 6 year old Umbrella Cockatoo Perry through his forever toddler life!! My husband and I love Perry so much but at times his demanding ways make us feel as though we cant do it for another 30 years. He has lots of good days that make us laugh...just like a child good days and grumpy days and the hardest part is he wants to be where we are at all times and he usually is however when hes not he starts screaming like crazy....this is a new thing he has started and we are trying not to react but its hard...he has a great disposition but hes the typical cockatoo everyone who owns one describes..he fits the description to a "T" we didnt know what we were getting into (wish someone would have warned us....yes we bought a petstore BABY...now you see why we fell in love... anyway we want to stay committed to our wonderful bird but some days we think we just cant do it....does anyone else have these days?? ....Kelly:yellow1:

I think we all do no matter what type of parrot we have. If I remember correctly I felt the same way when the kids were small on occaision:DJUST HANG IN THERE AND REMMBER this too will also pass, HOPEFULLY. i THINK i AM REFERRING TO THE TEENAGE YEARS:eek:

"Typical 'too", says it right there. If you know what that means, you know what you're up against. Just like kids, when you remember how you love them, you accept them as they are.
