as the months have gone on I allow Perjo to sit outside her cage for long periods of time. Unless I need to leave the room for more than 5 minutes she's free to sit out of her cage. She is very good about not getting into trouble, so far.
Well today she started climbing above the door and reaching down with her beak to close the door, then while holding the door with one foot she used her beak to slide the little lever above the door to hold the door closed. It's the little extra safety latch that just swivels on a screw. I usually leave the door open and it rests under a perch I have attached to the cage to help support the perch when she sits on it. I guess she is annoyed by that.
I made the mistake of getting up and opening the door telling her what she did. Now she keeps doing it.
Little sh/t.
