Lately when attempting to read threads, I will hear a voice coming from what seems like nowhere and find an commercial at the bottom of the thread. I am using Chrome and know they are notorious for making money thru all their advertising. I attempted to change my settings and "opt out" of these ads but find their pages freeze and will not allow me to finish the task. Anyone know of another way to get these commercials off the pages?

Sorry, I tried to Post earlier, but!!!!! Technical Issues :D

My new and much faster LapTop deals with the same issues! But my older, slow LapTop, does not! Its all about the fight between the Search Engines, the Pop-Up Add pushers and the Computer Manufacturers'.

Contact your AntiVirus provider and find out what 'Blockers' you need to add (commonly more money, upgraded package, etc, etc...). FYI: Up grades to the Search Engine will have your back to your AntiVirus supplier, same story with any upgrades to your OS.

This is one battle that for whatever reason, Old Slower Is Winning !:D

I am having a hell of a time with my computer ever since the first time I came on these forums. you may want to contact your forums support and see if you have things working right. these ads I see at the bottom of the page are the problem every time a video starts running I get stuck. and no it is not user error I'm very experienced with the net and computers and the unit I'm on now is up towards top of the line Asus Gaming laptop. I can not see anyway to remove these videos is this part of this forum? if so they are really dragging things down for some of us, to the point where all but reading is very flustrating. any help would also be great from others who have experienced this and figured it out. it is doing it both on MS,and Comodo Dragon

thanks

The video / photo adds at the bottom only activate if you click on them.

First, make sure that your o/s is up to date (most current release(s))
Second, make sure your search engine is up to date (most current release(s)).
Third, make sure your anti virus is up to date (most current releases).
Fourth, your over the top computer is also some of the problem because of it super abilities to multitask.
Fifth, the Pop-up Add pushers, uses your multitasking computer to push through their add(s). Most commonly voice / music. At the point that the Forums software is linking between your laptop and its server you see the slow down, freeze-up.

As long as the search engine people sell access to these groups, it will be an on-going fight.

I'm working with my anti virus supplier at least every other month. Forum based systems are very exposed to this type of problem because the the near ongoing interaction between your laptop and their server.

Getting Google Chrome solved most of my troubles on my Dell Inspiron 15 5000 laptop.

sailboat updated everything and still the same. on mine you don't have to click the videos they start on their own.

That's not a good sign!

Sorry if it sounds like I am repeating myself here, but you are sure that its the photo /video that are popping-up? Let me go play with a few of them from my laptop and see if I can get them to repeat what you are seeing.

Back in a bit!

Terry, the Spirit Add is blasting though. Not sure if it is apart of the approved adds or forcing over the approved adds. My blockers are up todate.

Please run this by the IT folks!

Problems solved if you just go on from your phone. Ive got android and use the regular internet app on it and theres no videos or any ads other than the regular banners.

Sorry, that doesn't quite solve it! When you spend what is supposed to be your entire workday coming in through a backdoor into the forum, this is a real problem!
For me, it is chrome related. I don't have the ability to use other browsers.

I use 2 different computers, one with the newest Chrome, and one with an old version and this isn't happening on either of mine. What is the Spirit ad?

I tried this and it appears to be working.. part of the problem was my setting was set to automatically load content.
Thanks

Good, I'm glad it worked for you! Hopefully we can figure it out for everyone:)

Of course it doesnt solve it :D . I didnt mean its a permanent solution, just rather a trick you can use for the time until it is fixed if theres no other way.

I dont log in from the computer much, but does everyone having the problem have a popup blocker? If so, it is probably an ad that slipped in that starts automatically, like you see on some of those random sites that starts blaring out of nowhere and has you jump out of your seat. I imagine deactivating flashplayer while using the site may prevent them too, but may cause addtl problems.

The Spirit Video Add is a duplicate of their TV Spirit Wireless Cell Phone Service with the guy that use to do the Verzon Wireless add: "Can You Hear Me Now!" It pushes whatever Video Add that is running at that moment off and replaces it with the Spirit Wireless Add.

Don't know why, maybe someone may have a idea.
I use a VPN for some stuff I do on the net and when connected to the VPN I have no problems with the ads, or videos. anyway I'm all good now

Not an Apple fanboy, but in my experience the use of an iPad yields the most trouble free experience. (but I still greatly prefer a full-sized keyboard!) My PC is an old HP that had been highly reliable!
