Wife took Perci for his first initial vet visit today. With COVID the vet was pretty back logged.

The wife put Perci in our modified pet carrier. The carrier is a small dog/cat carrier that I mounted a perch and bowls inside of. it also has an opening top for easy access as well as the front door on it. Perci did not mind his carrier one bit. No screaming, no fussing. He sat on his perch, ate his food and had some water. Which worked out, because Perci left samples in the bottom of the carrier for the vet. :D

As this was Perci's first visit he had a whole battery of tests performed. Of which we will get results later. So far the vet says that Percival looks perfectly healthy, no signs of stress, nails and beak are in good shape, and his weight is perfect. Vet really liked that Perci is target trained, and comes when you call him. Made the wife feel really proud LOL.

So either Monday or Tuesday we shall have the results of his tests. Our main concern of course is his liver. But he has a very healthy diet of veggies and organic pellets. And we try to limit how many treats he gets in a day from training which are chopped almonds and sun flower seeds.

Little trouble maker has learned how to open his treat container LOL, So we had to get one with a locking lid. :orange:

Good news! Hope his report card comes back great too! This post made me smile
Only thing that would make it better would be a oic!

Four hours later and we have news from the vet. :(

His first test show that he has Avian Gastric Yeast, and Candida. :(

The vet called and asked us some more questions, such as how was his diet. We told the vet he eats pretty normal, and he does not vomit, regurgitate, or have odd poop. They are going to wait for the rest of his test results to come back before they prescribe his medicine :orange: :(

Well I’m so glad you got answers! And you noticed the body posture was off. This was the like when my GCC had yeast overgrown. Here cane from seeds that has turned bad, or from her making soup out of her water.

Glad you will get meds.

Yiu can also offer a half teaspoon of yogurt with no artificial sweeteners and make sure has live culture. This helped my bird, and she was willing to lick off my fingers. I did it every day fir a week then three times a week then once a week , and now I offer if I’m going to eat yogurt.

So we got Perci’s medicine today. It is called Amphoterici-B.

We are having a slight issue with getting Perci to take it. So far we were able to but it on some apple and he ate it. But Perci can’t have apple every day, so we need some ideas.
