Khepri - Blue and Gold Macaw
Hey again everyone,

I want to buy a standing perch for my Blue and Gold Macaw. Something simple like this:

Or something more complex like this:

I don't know what dimensions or heights I should be looking at for a Macaw. Many vendors tend to photoshop birds onto the product pictures of the stand, often times making the stands incredibly misleading in their scale. I've been used to looking at cages because I DO know about bar spacing and gauges... but stands are a little different from what I've seen. Cages also tend to have an over all HxWxL and an INSIDE SPACE HxWxL... perches don't. They just do overall height, not the height from the perch to the little pan thing.

I'm worried that I'll order something and when it gets here it'll be more suited to an Indian Ringneck... many times I cannot even find the dimensions of the perch/wooden piece the bird stands on...

Any links to recommended perches would be very much appreciated, even if I don't purchase those, I can at least see the dimensions that I should keep in mind when shopping for a perch. Bonus points for something that can hold a toy as well.

Thanks in advance, guys!

Here are some links for you. All those would work for a B&G, BUT, I am not too fond of the dowel they all use for a perch. I think it would be easy enough to replace the dowel with a more appropriate branch of dragonwood or something along those lines. :)

Additionally, if you're a bit handy, it's super easy to make your own playgym. Check these out, Blanca made them for her macaws. :D

If you are planning on building one yourself, but you don't know which wood is safe, you could always contact our "henpecked". Check out his stash of wood. ;) http://www.parrotforums.com/do-yourself/35580-dragon-wood-perches.html
