pellets

So, I offered Milo some of Keen & Opi's pellets which are cockatiel size. Milo refused the ones in his size, but he's taking to theirs. I'll continue to offer his in the bowl, but does it really matter?

Our alexandrine, conure and amazons all eat the ML pellets. They are a little bigger than what the conure should have, I suppose, but he eats them just fine, he holds them and just munches away. As long as your bird eats them and doesn't have any problems, it really doesn't make a difference other than you might waste a little more feeding larger pellets. I'm super excited, I just found a place I can get 40lb bags of zupreem breeder pellets for $55! Unfortunately they are special order only and the store is over an hour away from me so I still need to go to the store today and buy one of the 3.5lb bags for $14, but I plan on getting on of the big ones in a week or two I get so excited when I find good deals

My conure likes the ML Zupreem fruit ones, but Merlin and Pete like the larger Harrison's. I have bird food all over this house right now!

I've yet to get Amigo to munch on a pellet, he's very finicky. So, I continue to grind them up and put them in his oatmeal.

I adopted my B&G Macaw 2 months ago and he has been on a seed diet for most of his 18 years. His former owner also fed him anything and everything that he was eating. The vet really wanted me to get him off the seed and onto Harrisons pellets. It took about a month of slowly decreasing the seed and increasing the pellets but I am happy to say he is now on pellets. He still wants to join his human flock at the table whenever we eat. He will eat almost anything we eat except vegetables. How important is it for him to eat veggies if the majority of his diet is pellets? He loves all the carbs; pasta, bread and potatoes. When I first was switching him from seed to pellets I would mix ground up pellets into mashed potatoes or pancake batter. That worked well but I don't need to do that now as he happily eats his pellets out of his dish. He just carries on something awful if we eat with out offering him what we are eating. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with their bird wanting to eat at the table? The vet says that some table food is fine just don't over do it.

My conure also wants to constantly eat what I'm eating. However she will gorge on too much of something, and just screech over and over for my food. So I started not giving her mine until the very end of my meal to make sure she isn't eating too much bread or too much pasta or whatever. I also give them all their veggies right before I start eating. With the veggies, it can take some time for them to start eating them, but once they do, they really enjoy them. Pellets should be the majority of their diet though.
