I've currently got an IRN and she seems to be protesting the pellets I've been giving her that is unless they seem to be wet. She's eating seeds and the chop I've been giving her as well however I can't seem to get her to be willing to pick up some pellets and dunk them. Any idea as to how I can teach her to dunk the pellets?

Which pellets is she avoiding (unless wet)?

Many members swear by Harrisons. I use mainly Zupreem Natural and am quite happy with those.

Goldenfeast makes Goldn' Obles which are also readily accepted by mine. Another great alternative. :)

If you want to encourage your IRN to dunk the pellets, you could try and place a water dish very close to the bowl that contains the pellets, and then show her directly how to 'dunk' them. The only downside of pellets sitting in water is that wet pellets do spoil rather quickly.

I'm using Zupreem Natural ML and the food and water dishes are right next to each other. I've been trying to show my IRN to dunk the pellets but it doesn't seem to be catching on too much. I was afraid that the pellets were too big so I chopped them up as well and she's still avoiding them unless I dunk them for her.

Update:

I gave in and started grinding pellets up and lightly moistening them up. I will be doing 30 minute feeding sessions at night with this while leaving dry pellets in all day and doing another hour long feeding session of chop.

I know they aren't the best pellets out there, but I've had good luck with Kaytee Natural parrot pellets (used to be original), no colors/shapes. Every bird I've had has taken to them readily from lovebird to macaw. Then of course they get their fresh/cooked/etc foods and treats (seeds, nuts, misc.)
