so I currently have Parker on harrisons coarse,,,which is a bigger pellet for those who don't know, I am thinking of switching him to the same type in a fine formula...smaller peices was wondering what you think...trying to get him to waste less and not make as much birdy soup

Rosie eats the fine size and LOVES them. I tried her on course for several months before giving up and only giving her TOPS, spontaneously I bought a 1pond bag of high potency fine and she prefers that over any other pellet she's ever had :)

The fine size isn't nearly as hard, and is a great little bite sized piece. A bird shouldn't need to soften them at all unless they just think the water is fun lol

This changes over years people as smaller then the parrot is suggest and then bigger then the suggest parrot on the bag. I just use whatever works best for my guys and what they like. Like my blue crowned conure likes medium rowdy bush instead of small or mini. As well my indian ring neck marley likes large zu preem instead of medium large soo I think it is just the preference of the bird. Try him on the fine and switch hm back to coarse if he does not adjust well.

My mitred conure is on fine. I've never tried him on course, but I don't think he'd care too much one way or the other. Yes, he enjoys holding food in his feet to eat it, but this often means that I'm going to get hit in the side, the head or even my face by flying pieces of food! However, if he is given food he can easily eat without chipping it (if he doesn't want to), this means less flying food (except for the stuff that ends up on the cage bottom from him thrashing his food around!).

Feel free to buy a small bag of a different size and see how well it works!
