Peeko has now been with us for 3 days, and he is an absolute angel. He is such a sweet, loving bird. He's a snuggler for sure, and has no problems with new people (though he does prefer me over everyone else already, and sometimes tries to get back to me when someone else is holding him). He already lays on his back in my hands (as shown in my avatar) and hasn't bitten, or made any moves to bite - not even when I was putting his flightsuit (which he doesn't like...but he has to get used to it...:() on him for the first time.
He didn't really have toys in his cage at the breeder's except for some "crazy links" and a bell, because they spent most of their day out of the cage anyway. So he didn't know what to do with all his toys at first! He's now getting the idea and has started playing with most of them :D But he's definitely a person-bird. He wants to be out of his cage with me, above all else. So long as he's snuggled into the crook of my neck, he's a very happy baby <3 The one thing in his cage that he seems unimpressed with is the happy hut. He tried it out, but didn't realize that he could turn around I guess, and tried to back out of it, resulting in him almost falling :p He caught himself though, but I put two sand perches in front of both ends of it to give him something to grab onto, hoping it would encourage him to go inside, but no dice. He'll climb on top of it and try to preen it, but he wont go inside. The little dork :p
Now, he's only 7 weeks old and is already making sounds that resemble speech. "Baby" and "My Baby" specifically. Five people (including me) have heard him say these, and everyone agrees that it sounds like he's saying those! It also took him half a day of being home to realize that its the clips on the doors that hold the cage shut, and nibbling at them (he cant get them open though). And it took him roughly three hours to realize that if he "fell" to the bottom of his cage, I'd rush over to make sure he was okay...and so he started climbing up high specifically to fall to get my attention! I stopped responding to it after I realized that I was being "trained", and he stopped doing it when I stopped responding. My conclusion is he's a smartypants!
And to my delight, he started eating the conure pellets over the parakeet food the breeder weaned him onto the second day I had him!

Overall, Peeko has exceeded all my wildest dreams. He's perfect.

Peeko's progress is fantastic, you are doing a great job
He is definitely trying to talk. Whenever possible, just keep talking and talking to him.
I love the saying "smartypants" LoL

I love GCC's... I currently have 3 babies out... They're roughly 9 weeks old, and flying around, going from the playgym to me and back...

Thanks guys :D Becoming a "parront" is one of the best decisions I've ever made.
