Pedi perch deep cleaning: best methods

Kiwi has a pedi perch that I wash with all the other perches, yet it seems theres always some (poop) residue left on it I can't scrub off. What is the best way to get them super clean? We don't have a dishwasher...

April, have you tried soaking and using a small brush like a toothbrush to get into the small crevices.

Using a nylon scrubber brush, yes, but soaking it, no. I don't have a bucket big enough to soak the whole perch in lol. But maybe if I soak one half than the other? We've already bought him quite a few new things for his cage, so I would like to hang on to at least a couple of his perches and not have to buy all new stuff!

Since you seem to be comfortable with gadgets & tools, here's a complete kit: Waterpik Complete Care Water Flosser and Sonic T... : Target

Should be able to handle most every problem you might run into...just be careful of splash-back.....

LOL Weco. I can see my husbands reaction now- "You spent WHAT on a toothbrush kit to clean bird crap off a perch?!". A new one cost $20/30 Especially since we got the steam cleaner not too long ago (though Ive been scared to try that on this perch for fear of blasting off all the sandy coating).

I use a hand held steam cleaner and scrub brush for that stuff, if I can't haul it outside and pressure wash it due to the weather.

I've been known to haul stuff down to the self service car wash too...

Doesn't the pressure of the steam destroy the perch? I've used the steamer on the rope and wood perches, but not the pedi perch because it seems like it would take the coating off

I was just offering suggestions, given your specifications & figured that would cover all eventualities ! ! !

I did mention that I have this propensity for getting into trouble when making narrow assumptions about female intentions, didn't I, so when I saw that do-all kit & considering your recent mention of your comfort level with tools and gadgets, I thought it might be a winner.....

I don't know about that for cleaning bird poop, but it is kind of neat (almost like what they use at the dentist). I've been looking for something to get my husband (who refuses to tell me what he would ACTUALLY like) for Christmas. That might just be a good gift as he likes 'gadgety' things
