I've recently omitted them from by birds' diet, I've previously given shelled ones after inspecting them, mainly because my birds seem to be more partial to them than other nuts (the exception being Argyle and pine nuts) and they are already included in their tidymix but I have read so much about peanuts being linked to Aspergillosis that frankly it scares me. Even peanuts fit for human consumption can have something unseen going on inside the nut. So my verdict is "it's better to be safe than sorry". I would never forgive myself if something happened to one of my birds through something preventable and I don't even want to think of what life would be like without one of them.
