In my parents house
Parrots
A cockatiel, a bourke, and three budgies
My birds are very very picky eaters. But they love this treat I made. I was trying to get my birds to eat carrots, so I decided to put peanut butter on the carrot and then roll it in seeds. I put it in the cage, then left the room. I returned in about 2 hours to remove any uneaten food, and it was gone.

I used:
A baby cut carrot.
Creamy peanut butter (made sure it was safe for my birds)
And spray millet.

I did:
Although baby cut carrots are pre-washed, I washed off the carrot. I stabbed it with a fork, dipped it in peanut butter. I took some spray millet, took all the seeds off and put them on a plate. Then I rolled the carrot in the millet, and served to my birds.

Something else I did, an hour before prepared the treat I removed the food from the cage. They had no food for an hour, after the carrot I gave their food back.

You mention that you made sure the peanut butter was safe for your birds. If i was going to try your recipe how would I know what peanut butter is safe? What would I look for? I read a sticky somewhere on this site that says peanuts can cause problems. I'll try to find it again. Maybe i misunderstood it.

My bird won't eat the peanuts that came in a mix that was purchased at the pet store but will eat the peanuts I bought at costco. She loves almonds too. Maybe the almond butter is worth a try.
On a side note, where would I find almonds in the shell? I'd like to buy them in bulk or at least a larger quantity than the small bags at the grocery store.

I used almond butter earlier today, I ran out of peanut butter. I find that my fids like it more than peanut butter.
