Thought it'd interesting for people to post how their birds react to different kinds of music.

My old lovebird used to sit in front of the sub woofer and screaming and head-banging to the base lol! Pixel seems to prefer more melodic music; she goes in to a near trance-like state (if I listen to a mellow cd she'll listen in total silence the whole time- it's the weirdest thing!). Occassionally she'll chirp along to more fast, upbeat music but she mostly ignores it.

How about your birds? :D

August or Brown head whistles and surprisingly pretty much in tune.
Bosley tries to sing in Parrot, he especially loves guitar riffs.

Mishka loves listening to me play the keyboard
His fav song is Baa Baa Black Sheep LoL

When playing classical music he sways his head side to side

Emily likes music. She usually chatters, cries like a baby, or sings along. Sometimes the singing along is really close to the melody, and sometimes not. She's usually a quiet bird until music is playing or an action movie. She also likes the scary music they use to increase anticipation in thrillers.

Guitar riffs, classical, and horror movie music? That's a mix LOL! Gotta wonder if our birds watch for our reactions to music and therefore tend to like what we like... or if they really have their own preferences.

Pixel cannot carry a tune at all... nor can I. So can't really criticize her!

Christinereed, I think I might be tempted if I were you to teach Emily the Jaws theme :p

My birds love it too. I usually either play nature soundscapes or pandora radio....I find a great station on pandora called soothing sanctuary that's awesome, and I always leave it playing softly if they're alone in the house for several hours. They totally respond to it.

All my fids LOVE music! I "party" with them on a regular basis, no kidding! Both Hunter and Sam sing their heads off to Cher and the Bee Gees. (Go ahead...laugh...LOL)

Niko TRIES to sing, but so far he's only mastered the Jiggly Puff (Hunter's teaching that to everyone :30: )

Ripley likes to be louder than the music, so there's a bit of a competition here. ;)

When I play classical music (in particular Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban & Sarah Brightman) the Amazons go really crazy. They sway, they dance, and they try to sing along.

When my Rosebreasted was alive .She used to like to dance to my daughters [ music -"I love you like a Rockstar" by Selena Gomaz ] Cute seeing 2s dance :)

LOL at the parrot who likes suspenseful music. Ditto on learning the Jaws theme. Maybe teach him the Psycho stab-stab shower scene music.

I made a 13-CD collection for Boomer. Every cd is a mixture of bird sounds, natural environment sounds, classical music, Chinese or Indian flute music, Enya and other New Age music -- these are what he respobds to. I play this on shuffle while I'm at work, swapping out a new CD every week. The mix is important, that way sometimes he would get a break from the melody and just listen to nature sounds.

I would love to see this on Vid Wendy PLEASE !!!!!

my birds go off when ever i play guitar i have a couple of riffs that just sends them over them top.

My little man loves all music especially alternative music like puscifer and portis head... He sings and dances but the best is when me or my partner play our acoustic, he comes and sits as close as he can to it and sings along with the melody. Adorable.

In the short time I've had Ninja, I discovered he loves the song Hello- by Dragonette.
I guess cause it's a bouncy song, and doesn't he bop in time to the tune!...screaming at the same time...it's quite funny to watch.

my oldest cockatiel LOVES Pink Floyd, and the Eagles. she chirps away when she hears either one.
