I’m looking for a single parrotlet or a pair. A pair would be best. I live in PA. Would like to see pictures. I have 2 parakeets and a Caique. Hoping they would get along.

Out of curiosity, why would you prefer a pair?

Hi! I haven’t been on parrot forum in over a week, so I missed your message. But now that I noticed it I can reply by telling you I’m getting pretty serious about having a parrotlet now, I’ve checked out this site that has beautiful parrotlets.
You ask why I wanted to get 2 parrotlets? I read somewhere that it’s best to have two to buddy up if you won’t be giving them your full attention. I have a Caique and he demands a lot of my attention so I have to try to work something out there. Not sure yet. Any idea’s? I don’t work I’m on disability for chronic pain so I do put Ozzie in his cage for a few hours during the day so I can rest. Do you think it matters having 1 parrot as apposed to 2? I’m new at this yet, I just bought my first birds last spring. And they are parakeets. I can’t even get them out of the cage, I got them at a pet store and of course they aren’t tame. I didn’t know a whole lot about pet birds and started doing a bunch of research after I bought the parakeets. Dum! So then after I did research and found a bunch of videos of cute birds that were hand fed, I wanted to have another one, I couldn’t decide between a Caique or a parrotlet, I got the caique and now 5 months later and obsessing over them, looking at video and pictures and reading about them. I want one bad! Or two! What do you think? Would they be ok with my Caique?

I have no idea if they would be ok with your Caique or your parakeets (budgies?). Parrotlets in pairs will likely ignore you altogether, so if you’re looking for cute and cuddly you might want to only get one. In fact, truth be told, parrotlets are not easy birds-they’re very nippy, they are only cuddly when they want to be, and they are said to untame very easily (within days). I don’t know this for a fact, as I take mine out and play with her EVERY SINGLE DAY so it doesn’t happen. They are also unaware of their size and can bully other birds. I’ve heard horror stories about missing toes on the other birds, and of course if they tangle with a larger bird they could get hurt. No guarantee that birds will get along.

If you are concerned about not having enough time for another parrot, then you might not want to get another parrot.

If I were you, I’d spend some time trying to tame those parakeets. They can be super sweet little fellas, males can be excellent talkers, and why not work with what’s in front of you? [emoji4][emoji4]
