Hi there! i have an African Grey parrot. 2 years old in jan. I need ideas for stuff to do during our playtime. I can get him to stay with me on a perch for hours but I don't feel we are actually progressing or something, I am not sure though. I just need ideas for playtime and things to do. I usually suffer from thinking of ideas and worry almost everyday for thinking that I am not satisfying his interaction needs. I have around an hour everyday for direct one on one time. I can get him to stay on a perch for like 2 hours on school days. + How can I stop my parrot from bumping into things? Thank you so much for taking your time to read this! :)

Google oragami boxes-- they are easy to make out of printer paper (see youtube) AND you can fill them with stuff.
Try shredding toys/foraging toys.
Try teaching colors or shape matching..
Links (attaching/detaching)
If you have "Alexa", I have seen Greys who learn to use their voices to play with the lights and music etc.
Oh, and station training (trying to teach him to fly to a specified location on command and stay there until called again) etc.

LOL, I'd be afraid a Grey would start ordering pizza and stuff, from Alexa!
Why not teach some tricks. For ideas, check out out Salty Parrot videos, link is below.

You can float stuff in a shallow bowlhave them fish it out. Fill s box with wadded up paper gave em retrieve a toy from inside. Join Pinterest they have a ton of ideas for parrots... stuff favorite nuts inside a bell pepper just cut a little hole and push them in. I usually get stuck in a rut of just snuggling...they love to snuggle. Teach him to hold a spoon and clank on a pot lol

Greys are SO smart! I bet your bird will take to some of those ideas.

Good for you, for being so interested in your bird's mental health.

Sooooooo... I hope these great ideas have you feeling a little less murdery. :)
