I am planning a trip out of state for the weekend. I don't have anybody that lives close by to take care of my parrot.

Will she be ok her cage for 2 days?

I have a large food feeder. My only concern is water. Will a large water bottle be ok? Can anyone recommend one?

I've had to travel a few times, it is always hard. Once I found someone to check in on Auggie. The other times that person had moved away and I didn't trust anyone else.

I have left Auggie over a weekend. I have him plenty of food, and I filled up several water supplies. He usually has one water bowl and one hanging water bottle. I cleaned out his regular water RIGHT before leaving and I filled the water bottle, AND put another big water bottle up. He didn't go through much of the water, but I did want to make sure he had CLEAN water.

This worked fine, he sure missed me by the time I got back, but there were no problems.

Of course if you can find anyone to check in on them once or twice that would be best, but for a couple days they can do pretty well on their own.

Before saying "yea" or "nea" to this question I have to ask you this, has your bird used a water bottle before? If you bird has never used, or seen, a water bottle before "testing it out for the weekend" is 100% out of the question ...

Water bottles are great alternatives, but you must, must make sure that they know how to use it first!

AGREED 100%

Although it didn't take Auggie long to figure it out. I think he new right away but he just wanted to be a smart a...

I filled the bottle, put it on his cage. He ran over to it, looked at it, looked at me, looked at it, then he pushed in the ball and watched ALL of the water drain out on the floor. If a bird could smile I'd swear he was smiling at that point.

I filled it up again, and since he's known how to use it. But one should never assume they can figure it out.

Thanks for the advice! Yes I was defiantly going to let her get use to the water bottle before I left.

Hm... I wonder if I should setup a webcam, or is that being over cautious?

If you can that would be fine.. No such thing as over cautious..
I would also make sure you have a light in the room on a timmer.
