My family is getting ready to go away for spring break in Tennessee. It made me think of our trip there last year and our visit to Parrot Mountain. I have to credit them as one of the main reasons we are now blessed with Rosie. It was there that we really got acquainted with lots of parrots and got to handle and feed them.

I was wondering if anyone else has been there? It is a beautiful location with so many beautiful birds. Staff is so friendly and informative. Can't wait to visit again this year!

Here is their website:

I have been there! twice. It also inspired me to buy a B&G. I also appreciated the christian aspect of their sanctuary. Last time I went, I really wanted to buy a baby bird but my wife and I were on our honeymoon at the time. we got married in Gatlinburg. We will be going back there this year for vacation and you can rest assured that we will bringing home a baby-- weened of course.

I never knew such a place existed! If I'm ever in TN, I will definately try and visit.

i've lived in tennessee my entire life and never heard of the place. Will def visit soon though
not sure I like the idea of being able to just pick a bird and take it home...seems like it would make it to easy to just think you want one and take it home without knowing what you are really getting into...especially in such a tourist oriented place

Its located near pigeon forge by dolly wood.

This must be a relatively new place as I was in Dollywood and Pigion several years ago and no mention was made of it then. They certainly have a nice assortment of birds. It's rare to see Toucans anywhere.

We bought a 6 week old eclectus female from them, not knowing she had cancer. We had to take her to UT to get it diagnosed and her leg removed- it was an aggressive sarcoma they said she was born with and works kill her unless we removed her leg.
I don’t think they sold us a bird that was sick knowingly, but once they found out they had, had all of the vet and hospital records and found out it cost us $3200 to get everything done to save her life, they started putting us off and not communicating back with us as they avoiding reimbursing us for the cost of the treatment. We paid $3400 for her. They still haven’t made it right even though they sold us a sick bird. Beware.

Hmm. Some of the photos of their(?) Birds look a little off to me. We are not super duper far from there. May take a road trip to see whats what.

So sorry that happened to you, Vmcelheney. What an unfortunate situation. I hope the little one is doing better now?

They sell unweaned birds? Huge red flag in my eyes. I would NEVER sell an unweaned baby. EVER.

Beautiful place to visit. However, the all seed diet with peanuts mixed in is a terrible diet. They claimed that the University of Tenn vets recommended the diet. You can tell their birds are obese just by holding them!
