**Fingers Crossed**
Hoping really really hard to have a birdie in a few weeks. As of right now I have an EGG! (well not literally with me;)
Hello Everyone!

I came across this forum while I was doing research on parrots. I don't have a parrot to call my own, but am very hopeful in owning one soon! Which makes me exstatic. When I was younger I did own a parrot, I could not tell you what breed it was as my mother bought it form our local swapmeet. He was the BEST parrot I could ever ask for and to this day whenever I see any parrot my childhood memories return and it makes me miss him SO MUCH! I have been very patient and now that I am finally living on my own (well with my husband of 3 months, YAYY!!) I finally have the space to own a parrot. I went to a local parrot store today and ALMOST walked out with 2 smart and beautiful cockateels ... Which would have been a spur of the moment purchase. After secretely talking it over with my husband in the back of the store, we decided to go home, do some research, and wait until the we find the PERFECT parrot. And that is why I came across this website. I know that with a little research, help of my fellow parrot lovers, and patience I will find my perfect baby!

= ) >>> Talk to you soon!!

Oh! Feel free to voice your opinions and experiences to me as I am very excited in learning as much as I can before I buy a parrot. I am looking forward to everyone's help!!

See ya! :whiteblue::blue2::yellow1:

Hi Ani! I'm a soon to be new parrot mom too! That was smart of you not to get the first birds who came along, without doing your research first. Thank God for the internet, how the heck did we research stuff before that?

I started out a few months ago, thinking I was going to get a lovebird (hence my profile name). Then i started reading about Green Cheek Conures, and I knew that was going to be my first bird. Today I went to the breeder to see my new baby, a turquoise GCC! I put a deposit down, and will pick him up next saturday. :green:

It has taken me months of research to get here, and this forum has really helped! Everyone is so nice and willing to help! I'm sure we will both be asking lots more questions ;)

Congratulations on your new upcoming birdy!

Hello Agapornis!

Congratulations on your new baby!! I am sure you are VERY excited to bring him/her home!

Thank you for the warm welcome. I do look forward to learning a lot more about parrots. I am a happy and eager new addition to these forums!

Thanks again!

Welcome to the forum You have come to the right place. There is such a diverse collection of parrots owned by members here. I have a little collection of my own and hopefully adding a new addition in the next couple of months.

Congrats! I am a recently new parrot owner, and I have found this forum to be a fantastic community! Please keep us posted on your decision. You could also look into local rescues as they often have loads of birds looking for homes. I know my local rescue is currently at capacity. Although many of the birds have some behavior issues, many of them are just in limbo waiting for their forever home. You might get lucky and find the perfect bird for your family.

Welcome to the forum. I love the excitement of planning a new fiddie addition. Maybe if there are any breeders close to you or pet shops that have a varied group of parrots, they would let you observe & interact with the ones that peak your interest. It would help you decide what type you would enjoy spending your life with. And congrat. On being a newlywed.

I too am waiting for another one to add to my flock. I am on a waiting list for next season's hatchings of green wing macaws from a breeder in my state. It will be my dream parrot & I will feel my flock is complete when I get it home.

CONGRATS :60: ! maybe you could describe your old parrot to us and we could help you figure out what kind it was? welcome to the forum, you will make a fantastic bird owner!

Thank you everyone! Such a warm welcome! I am very excited to be apart of this wonderful community!

My previous parrot, was small. He was bigger than a parakeet though, from the research I have recently done, it looks to be like a conure. He learned to say words, give kisses, dance, and whistle. He was green all over and had an orange nose.

P.S. : I am going later today to meet with a parrot breeder!

Wish me luck!

Good Luck & I hope you find that perfect little fluff of feathers. Tell us all about your fun in looking playing with the cuties.

Hi Ani welcome to the form.

You are very smart to do your research to figure out which parrot is a good fit for you and your family. I am a macaw/min-macaw woman myself but I love conures, pionus, alex's, and am learning about Amazons. I love cockatoos, Budgies and Cockatiels too but I can no longer have any old world birds because of my severe allergies.

Anyway I also would love to help you figure out what type of parrot your childhood friend was. I was wondering if he might of been a half moon conure. Here is a picture of one I found on the net.

What a cute little bird huh? So....does this little guy look like your childhood friend?

Take care,
