african grey 04/12/2011, ,canaries, finches, golfish, cats, Jack Russell terrier, turtle
hi, ,
my congo grey was playing ,swing, hanging upside down with his beak
in his cage, and fell down onto a toy and pierced his body just under his
left breastbone , lost a lot of blood until i stopped the bleeding,
i took out all toys and just left him with a perch. food. water. until i hope
he gets better tomorrow, please note, i don't have any vet that can
treat birds near me at all,
not much for me to do now but wait by showing him my affection,

my main point is for bird owners to be careful with toys in a cage
no sharp objects, tree branches, mirrors, etc,
from now on its all going to be all round ball type toys only !

Take him to any vet. This is an emergency. He needs fluids ASAP and to be checked for internal injuries.

im so sorry, because four years ago i took my precious amazon to a vet
who gave him treatment but died overnight, but now i have to book a
planeride to see a proper vet, ok im on vigile tonight , he looks active
if things change i will take drastic action and go.

edit,
sorry, i never blame any professional vet, and never did,
im just so upset,,, i will go in the morning when the vets opened he's away just now, i called him,

Do you have an animal hospital close by? Hope all gets better

nobody that can properly treat birds, anyway,,,,,,

ok just back from any vet no internal bleeding, all he could do was to clean the wound,
the bird seems to be coming back to normal, but still a bit grogy, he eat some food
but plucking his feathers now, but i can deal with that. he s talking and whistling,
i just have to wait a few days until his blood is circulating properly again,
no more toys for him yet, thanks for everyone's comments and concern,,,

I know that was a terrifying event. I'm glad you were able to get him to a vet. I hope he fully recovers very soon. Thanks for the update.

thanks for all your comments,
he's recovered completely now, and feathers growing back,
i didn't think he'd make it due to the seriousness of the injury
thanks to the forum, it does really help.

So glad to hear he is okay! Thank you for updating us.
