I was looking for a parrot on best friends animal sanctuary. I found this parrot. The website claims that it is a parakeet but I don’t know. Is it a parakeet, please say what type, or if it is something else, what? Thanks

I've seen her page! Perry, right? because she's the same as my little guy! She's an African Ringneck parakeet. They're very similar to Indian Ringnecks, but a bit smaller and their vocalizations are different. I ADORE them and I've been very tempted to visit this girl!

A lot of their birds are listed as "Parakeet- other" because their general type falls under "parakeet". Like Quaker parakeets or the Indian Ringneck parakeet - basically all a group of parrot species with long tails In the US we tend to call the Budgeriar a parakeet so it can be confusing!
