Parrot Enrichment

Hello!

My name is stephanie, i live in sweden where i have been keeping- and working with parrots for about 12 years now. Besides working wth training and enrichment i am also studying biology.

As a part of a bigger (non-profit) project i have just started a facebook page on Enrichment for captive parrots. This is one of my main interests and i am sure everyone can learn something new, and maybe share some ideas of your own. :)

This page is directed both at parrot owners and proffessionals, and the main mission is to educate people about what enrichment is, and, after a while, i'm hoping the page will act sort of as an enrichment-wiki. :)

In zoos it's very important that enrichment is both cost effective and doesn't take all day to prepare, so i'm also trying to "convert" some of the knowledge there to fit companion parrot owners.

I do hope you will all join us there!

I'm very glad you like it. :)

The "bigger project" i'm working on is actually a book, which will be availble for free as a PDF when it's finished. I'm also considering releasing it as a hard copy and letting the proceedings go to the World parrot trust.

The book, like the facebook-page, will also be about enrichment. People outside of zoos normally just think about toys or foraging when when they hear the word, wich is actually far from everything enrichment is about!

I have very high hopes for this project as it will we the first book of it's kind.
Hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as i have enjoyed writing it. :)

Regards
/Steph
