hi some people said paper bird toys (phone books, toilet paper) is a good idea i would love to do this but im not shore and my cockatiel molly doesn't SHRED paper she EATS it and im shore she would have fun but is all that paper that she might eat good for her also are all cockatiels nibbley because molly eats anything she can get her beak into (good thing shes not a macaw with a huge beak id have nothing left!) into but tinker wound touch a single toy or treat? :grey::grey:

Is she actually eating and swallowing it? My birds tend to make little spit balls out of it then toss it on the cage floor or out of the cage on the floor. Another paper toy my birds like is a roll of adding machine paper put on the top of the cage with the end handing through the cage top bars and they just pull on it and chew holes in it.:)

Should there be a concern about ink on things like a phone book, newspaper, etc.? Frankie wants to tear up newspaper all the time, but I've been really hesitant to give it to her. I usually give her a piece of cardboard or sometimes a paper towel, something that isn't printed. You do have to watch them to make sure they don't eat it though. I thought Frankie was eating the paper towels the first time she grabbed one, but then realized that she was balling up pieces under her tongue and then spitting them out later.

If she is eating and swallowing it then I would find something else to play with. :)Davisin456 They don't have lead in the news print anymore so that and phonebooks should be fine What I don't use because I am not sure is the colored glossy adds like you find in the newspaper:)

Nowadays newspapers are written with non-toxic ink, you shall feel safe offering them as a toy. At least that's what I've read somewhere.

I also thought Mango was eating the papers until I caught him spitting them.

That's good. Frankie sneaks junk mail off my desk sometimes and chews half-way through it before I can get it from her. I usually bribe her with a piece of cardboard, but I'll let her have the papers from now on. She seems to like it better.
