Palm Fronds

All the checking I've done on the internet show palms as safe for birds, My B&G Macaw in particular.

BUT,

i'm just looking for some confirmation from the more experienced bird owners.

Here in Arizona, (and probably a lot of other places), there is a hard brown "shuck" near the top of the palm tree that the tree sheds around this time of year.

I was planning on cutting it in to pieces for toy parts if I can confirm they are safe.

Anyone have experience with these pieces?

Do you know what species of Palm, seems i've seen Palms there but don't recall the type. Most are ok but see if you can find out what species.

I believe it is called a Mexican Fan Palm, at least it looks very similar to the one in this link.
