I dont buy mixed nuts often and brought a can home today. He saw that can and promptly got on the table and started biting at it..So I wiped the salt off a half peanut and offered it to him and he took it.
And two more after that. But as soon as the can was out of sight he would not take a nut from my hand again...Silly bird...At least I have a training treat now, as long as I keep the can in sight..So hopefully we can get down to business.

That's fantastic. Makes you wonder what is so significant about the can and not just the nut??

I've been wondering that as well. My guess is Paco's previous owner may have feed him nuts from a can. My birds all get excited when they see me coming with a bowl because I give them veggies and other items, including nuts, from a bowl. I put in bowls anything I'm bringing them and go from cage to cage to add it to their food bowls, so they know when they see a bowl they are getting something.
