Owner Devastated-Graphic images-footage

How devastating:( Seeing the actual footage made me burst out in tears, I couldn't imagine being the owner of the birds who died. We must be ever vigilant protecting our babies from PREDATORY PETS. This kind of carnage is, sadly, not uncommon.

I saw it on another forum but knew better than to watch the video. The article was bad enough.

Holy crap I shouldn't have watched that...so <very> sad. Made me cry. People make mistakes..I've been there, but no one should have to go thru this..poor babies.

If you didn't see the pic, DON'T. It is bad. Even adds to it when they show a "happy" alive pic of the same bird above it . I am so upset now that my stomach is churning. I couldn't bear to see video. Just let the jist of this message be a HUGE warning!

Raven I agree..seeing the happy alive bird is when I started crying.i have four cats and even tho I let my severe bite each and everyone of them and they are afraid of her I still will never trust them alone with her. I always say if u are willing to protect your human children then you should do the same for your four legged and two legged children.

This is so sad....

This is exactly what happened to my chickens~ I'm not sure if any of you remember my thread recently, but one of my huskies escaped our backyard, made his way across the property and pushed his way in through the door-- just like this guy's aviary. The sight I had to see was just as bad, if not worse than this video.

I'm glad there was a survivor, because in my case- there wasn't.

I know there are some dog breeds that are less prey-driven than others, but it's just so so so important that we understand what could happen.....

Yeah, I didn't need to see the video either.

I am well aware of the damage irresponsible pet owners who let their dogs roam free can do...

You can't blame the dogs for being dogs, BUT... as an owner you're supposed to control them.

Aawww getwozzy...I remember...my heart still goes out to you

Being fairly new to having a bird as a pet . This is the first time I have seen anything like this. Hearing is one thing seeing just broke my heart and opened my eyes. I realized I get to relaxed when it comes to my dogs around BB. This opened my eyes a lot. I was not even going to post but I spoke with a mod and after thinking. Well picture is worth 1000 words.

I agree 100% and now the owners are petitioning to get their dogs back. It's very unfortunate, the pray drive in some breeds is just so strong. The owners should pay for all the damage and the cost to replace the birds. Of course you cant "replace" a well love family member, but they should pay anyway. I hope there is an update to this story.

I will not open old wounds by watching the video, but endorse it in principle as a cautionary tale.

While any dog can revert to instinct, I no longer have dogs that have a strong prey drive. Great Danes have proven very safe, as well as a Schnauzer and Brussels Griffon.

I agree I couldn't look having seen it in person.:(:(:(:(

I didn't watch, seeing the photo was enough. I have a 70lb bulldog, and two 20lb pugs. I share their weight because while my dogs are lazy, we had a close encounter where the bulldog almost sat on Buddy, he didn't know he was there. I snatched him up before he got flattened. Now my parrots can only be with me, or on a designated perch, or their areas like cage, play tops, not on furniture, floor, etc. Even though my dogs seem gentle, I don't trust them. They have a natural instinct, haven't seen it kick in but I don't want it to.
