Overwhelming sadness

My breeder friend called me in hysterics there was an electrical fire inside the wall of her aviary. (a family of chipmunks had made a nest and bit through wires apparently). Their dog woke them even before the alarm went off. They desperately tried to get everyone out as quickly as possible but she lost many birds including my lovely Gidget. She lost a male red sided a few pairs of her GCC and her much loved retired pair of B&G's. Gomez seems to be fine so I am grateful for that but my dear Gidget...she was so young.:(

I was trying very hard to be strong for my friend, she is feeling so guilty but of course this was no ones fault and I needed her to know that I don't blame her, this was a terrible accident and beyond anyone's control but I am sitting here today just broken inside. I have no more tears left. She has a lot of property and Gidget will be buried with all of the others she lost in a special place off to one side of her flower garden.

We had talked last week about when mine would be coming home...Gidget was starting to get better living in a flock environment she was at one time really going after Jillie and Jillie won't back down at all so there was the fear that one of them would be really hurt. Now this...I am sad beyond words.:(

Sorry for your loss.

Hugs to you...

Oh Laura, how awful, I'm so sorry for your personal loss of Gidget and your friend's tragic loss of so many birds. My heart is breaking for both of you. Deepest condolences, My Friend.

Oh, Laura. I am so sorry for your loss. Poor Gidget was indeed so young, and I know you were looking forward to reintegrating her into your flock.

Sending you my warmest hugs and thoughts for the grief you must be going through right now.

I'm just so thankful that Gomez turned out to be okay.

Please extend my sympathies to your friend as well, who lost so many from her own flock. So very tragic.

Fly free, dear Gidget. You were loved, and will be truly missed.

Update....you won't believe this....made a last ditch effort to look for birdell, found her in a low pine tree a few hundred feet from house.

She's now home safe and sound, very hungry and very tired.

Oh no Laura! What a tragedy, those poor birds! My heart goes out to you and your friend. Hugs!!!

I am so sorry, Laura, for this tragic loss. Losing so many beloved parrots in a single event is overwhelming and heartbreaking. The pictures of Gidget brought tears to my eyes but remain as a testament to her spirit.

First HUGS!!! Second I read this earlier and it tore my heart, I am so sorry to hear that your friend and you went through this. It's such sad news. Your friend can't blame herself, it was out of her control and she did what she could. Hang in there and more hugs.

Hi Laura, how are you holding up? I know how sad and awful that must be for you. It's even harder when you don't even have a chance to save it.
That feeling went thru me as well yesterday. I can relate. I wish I had the words to take the pain away.
