Its getting longer and sharper everyday. I heard that sometimes the birds dont come out of the anesthetics and die, and he's just a little conure. He nips sometimes and it HURTS, cause his beak is so danged sharp, needle sharp. Its practically happened overnight. Any safe ways that wont cause him pain to have it ground down just a bit?:orange:

The vet is the best one to do this if it is very overgrown. Give him a cuttlebone, mineral block, and clean, bird safe wooden objects to chew & shred.

Chew toys, mineral block, concrete perch, etc. But vet would be the only option if its already over grown. Not all vets put them under! My vets don't put mine under and I prefer that way as I don't like to drug my bird if I don't have to.

I just had Pete's beak done last month and they did not put him under or anything like that. They just trimmed it up with a Dremel.

We just had two of our birds beaks touched up as well and no anesthesia was needed.

Of course it's nice if nothing needs to be done with it in the first place. They do need wood toys to chew on. A cement perch helps as well both with beak and toenail grooming. Cuttle bones and mineral blocks provide calcium and such, and also help with beak grooming. And a good diet helps as well. If the bird is on a seed diet, switching to pellets is both much healthier and keeps the beak from growing as fast. Pete's beak was overgrown because he was on a seed diet and didn't have any toys in his previous home.

I'll be sure to get him a wood perch cause when he chewed all of them up, I didn't buy any more XP dummy me! They are notorious chewers. Well I'll give it a few months with wooden objects and if it's still to much I'll see if I can find a vet, thanks everyone!
