I ws thinking about getting a outside flight pen I guess you would call it ? I never had one and I would appreciate all advice on the subject. Do I have to put down a cement foundation or can I put it on the grass ? I would like a nice size one , maybe 10x12 ish ?
I know they are expensive , so I will probably be shot down when I see the price. But I figure , if I want it so they can fly , it's got to be big enough , right ? :p
Just thinking about it makes me so happy. I cant wait to see my guys enjoying the warmer weather and fresh air , flying around happy and getting good exercise. :):)

I've built a few. Biggest question is how do you feel about Galvanized Wire ? Many people have issues with the zinc. However if your birds are not in it all day, chewing on the wire, your OK, IMO. SS is an option but is very, very costly. After having your birds outside ,you'll soon find the wire is not to keep your birds in , but to keep the pedators out.Dogs, cats, hawks, snakes, mosquitoes, gnats, ants ,mice, the list is endless.I don't want to discourage you but it takes alot of forethought, and it cost. I build mine on a concrete pad that slopes to the center with a sump, so i can clean it with a hose.I put 1x2 wire on the inside and screen wire on the outside. If my birds where there for long periods and chew like your too, i'd frame it with PVC or aluminium. If my birds where flighted i'd have a double door so i could enter without birds escaping .Pure ,unfiltered sunlight is a real plus for any of our pet birds and i give mine all i can.Maybe a large cage that your could roll out on to the patio would be a better choice.Like most things today, all you need is a pocket full of money.

Thank you for your reply. I think I would go with the stainless steel. I know it's expensive , but I dont want to have any regrets later. I also want to have a second catch door , just in case someone tries to follow me in or out. I was thinking of getting the premade pens. I really want to be able to sit inside with them and enjoy watching them climb and fly around. I cant think of anything more relaxing and enjoyable , lolol.
I was thinking of a roll out cage too. I might be doing that first while I contemplate getting a large flight pen :)
I dont know , night cages , day cages , outside cages , these birds are spoiled !:p:p
