Liang Zai "pretty boy" in Mandarin Chinese.
3-year-old Jenday supervisor!
Canary: Johann Sebastian Bird
Our birdlar alarm goes off frequently.

Liang Zai's cage and perch above it is before a second-floor south-facing window.
He has a nice view of the street and sidewalk and short walk and driveway to the house.

Whenever someone approaches the house, he squawks.

Even Sheeler used poodle has caught on and starts barking and heading toward the front door upon Liang Zai's notice!

Liang Zai needs fine-tuning.
Has emitted a few false alarms.
One was a plastic grocery bag blowing down the street.
Another was a dog walking on the sidewalk.

lmao what a clever boy you have :) and have you solved the banister problem???

haha! Whenever Nicky sees a cat outside he will screech non-stop until it is no longer in sight. He only does that for cats and no other animal. Funny thing is that he never did when my brothers cat was still alive.

... have you solved the banister problem???
Not yet.
Hope to make a perch for him which rests securely on the banister.
It will also have lower "deck" to hold toilet paper on which droppings will fall.

Hopefully he'llike the 1-inch diameter dowel better than the mostly flat 2-1/4 inch wide banisterail.

If he still alights on the banister, I'll place double-sided Scotch Tape on the banister top hoping that he will dislike the stickiness and use his comfortable perch.

Your cloth soundsimilar to what my wife did.
Youqing placed a small rug on the carpet beneathis cage.
Buthe rug is another object on the floor and complicates vacuuming.

I removed the rug and inserted a 1/4-inch plywood board under the cage floor pan. It cantilevers out about one foot held in place by the pan's weight.
We place newspaper on the board which is under his open cage door and the branch perch above.

I want to provide four comfortable perches so Liang Zai can fly and be with his family, but which will keep him from damaging anything.

Yesterday, as my wife played the piano, he tried to land in the tall floor plant next to her. The fern's branches are too flimsy, so he returned to the chandelier above the kitchen table.
Justwo squares of toilet paper attached with a little piece of tape keep the chandelier's glass lamp shade clean.
