How do you organize store your birds' food? I have three types of birds so that makes for a decent variety of foods. I try to transfer them into tupperware containers from the original packaging, but I still end up with a ton of containers! I'm trying to cut down o n the amount of food I keep around since if I see a good deal, I'll buy it.

Don't laugh, but I do something similar.

We buy Pellet-berries because they are Sugar's absolute favorite thing in the world and how we got her to start eating pellets instead of seeds. Just like Nutri-berries, they come in two sizes; either the small container or the big huge one! We buy enough of the small ones that we kept a couple, cleaned them out and then filled them with the other two types of food we keep (we also feed 3 foods; Zupreem Naturals and Harrisons Coarse, along with the Pellet-berries twice a day). I have a label maker, so I labeled them. They stay on a bookshelf in the bird room. I buy in bulk (5lbs bag of Harrisons, and Zupreem by-the-pound at a local place) and keep what's not in the containers, in the freezer.

Sorry if you were hoping for something fancy or easier. Maybe someone else will have a better idea!

Nope! I get Laefber pellets, nutriberries and pellet berries too! Now that I have so many birds I should go through them quicker hopefully! I get cheap tupperware from the dollar store though I might get some glass or ceramic jars with the rubber seal, like people use for flour or coffee beans. I'm just in need of having it all neat and tidy but I have so much junk too.

Especially with the bunch of crap seed I just got with my new conure, I don't want to just toss it, though I might dump some outside for the wild birds. I have a big plastic container full of it that I could definitely reuse, but the other is in a bag, so I'll probably dump that.

Rosie gets Harrison's fine, Harrison's course, and totally organic. I keep them in their bags, close them and put a clip over the folded top, I use a old Leafeber's pellet container for her treat bags. so they don't get all over.

The I stuff everything underneath her cage

I have Vittles Vaults for large quantities of food. Also have a Home Depot bucket with extra seed (accidentally bought too much).

For everyday food though, I have smaller containers that I store the food in and replenish when required. I have plastic containers with peel off lids, but I'd really like to switch them all over to lids that twist off. And of course, a few things are in bags! Small bags that they came in.

Everything I have for the birds is removed from original packaging and put in those plastic cereal containers. It works great, especially because the birds can't poke holes in that plastic! (I'm sure it wouldn't stand up to a bigger bird) I used to leave it in the original bags until one day when I left the birds alone for 5 minutes Kayak somehow managed to make a conure sized hole in the side and get herself into the pellet bag!!!! All I saw when I went back into the room was a little green bird butt sticking out of the side of the bag. Was she eating the pellets? No! She just wanted to make me crazy! She laughed at me while I was telling her off for eating a hole in the bag! I also had an issue with my budgie poking holes in the bags of millet just so he could have some. They're so sneaky and naughty and they always know when they shouldn't be doing something!

I've got 6 cereal containers of various bird foods/snacks and yet my cereal and food is always in the original box getting stale! :09: These birds eat much better than I do.
