Yellow Nape Amazon - Shoku - greatly missed!
Charlie is a calm, shy, and sweet amazon (but still has that Amazon flare we all love). He is approximately 22 year's old. I rescued him from a person who rescued him from his first owner, who kept him in a wire rabbit cage for his first 15 years. This cage caused him to break multiple toes that never healed correctly, so he has a little trouble holding on to when on hand, but I just help hold his toe or give him a hug as I carry him. The person I got him from, honestly, had no idea how to take care of a parrot. He had bad scissor beak, talons and looked like he had never taken a bath. After many sessions, and a proper diet, he looks like a new bird. I have only had him 2 years, and in those years I was surprised with my fourth child. So, having 4 kids 9 and under just seems to be too much for him 
. When he is out on his gym he can get so stressed from all the kids running and yelling. Plus, I'm not sure if it is jealousy, but he has developed this love/hate for me where he loves to be around me but won't let me touch him very much anymore. I have no problem working with him, but as the kids get older they will have more friends over and I hate to see him so worried/scared so much. When things are calm he will let anyone hold him, even my 3 year old. He does prefer women because the previous family, the dad, would tease him immensely. He does talk a little, whistle, and has never screamed like other zons do. Although he does do this kacking sound when wants your attention. He is fine around other pets, children (just not as many as I have). He isn't even a real biter, he makes a warning sound first. He is also not a big chewer (the previously lady never even gave him toys), but now he will chew on soft woods or cardboard.
I would love to keep the cage so I can try another bird, but I would be ok if someone wants his PVC play gym I made him.
