Hello! I have a Blue IRN and it is around 1 year old. He is a male. He loves to eat seeds and suck on the juices from vegetables and fruits but doesn't really like to eat the solid parts. I was wondering if he is a good size for his age and if the grey spot on his head is okay? Thanks again and have a wonderful day! :blue1::)

His feathers do look a bit odd but idk if I would say its a bad thing or not. Have you tried to get him to eat pellets? Which fruits/veggies have you given him?

Did he had siblings or other birds with him??? It looked like he was plucked by another bird behind the head. But it looks like he went through a molt!

Thanks for the reply!

When we got him like that, that's how he was. He was a baby. I'll try to upload pictures when he was a baby.

I give him the following: Veggies such as peppers, tomatoes, cilantro (favorite). Seed mix. Peanuts.

But in regards to fruits. He does not like much dry fruit. Fresh fruits, he bites but spits out the food which at that point I am assuming he takes the juices.

Any suggestions for him to eat better?

When we were purchasing him for the first time, he had a few IRN in the box (baby). When we got him and for the first 11 months he was alone. We then added a green IRN but took him out recently as they were not happy together.

I did a quick research on molt. It could be I can not honestly confirm..

But any feedback? I mean does he look healthy? lol. He flys. Plays. Talks. Eats whatever I mentioned above..

Thanks everyone! :blue1:

He looks fine to me! Since he was with another one I would say highly likely they got into it and head part is the result...

Perhaps you can make a batch of "chop" and see if he likes that. There are many recipes for it on here and all over the web. I would include more dark yellow meaty or dark green leafy items, kale, mustard greens, sweet potatoes, broccoli, blue berries, seedless grapes, mango, papaya, some spinach, squash, pumpkin, carrots, ect. Just make sure everything you give him is safe.
What seed mix are you giving him? I would cut back on the peanuts as they should only be a rare treat and not very good for birds. Some seeds and nuts are good but not if that's all he eats. I recommend to try Harrison's high potency pellets. If he does not eat them right away (and most don't) you can crush it and put it in with the chop or any fresh fruits/veggies. Fresh is always better! Maybe a trip to the vet for a check up would be a good idea to to know everything you can.

He's a cutie, for sure! I just made the Parrot muffins for my guys and they LOVE them! I made them in a cake pan and cut them into good-for-IRN sizes... if they didn't have pellets in them, I think I'd eat them myself! :D
