Opinion on Volkman foods?

What is your opinion on Volkman products? I've never thought much of them, when I first got Rosie I was a little low on money and bought a seed mix instead of fiesta(I bought pellets separately to mix in). It smelled fowl and ever since then I've pretty much ignored it. But I had bought that bag from a ware house store that may of had it stored for who knows how long.

Since my mom picked my bountiful harvest clean giving Kinji treats I had to go out and buy something quick(and tell her to stop filling him up with dried fruit and nuts lol, now she is restricted to one treat per day!). I'm always a little nervous when feeding non human grade foods.

I bought Volkman fruit and nut goodies. It has a great variety of things I can use as food rewards for kenji during training sessions. I cut them up into small pieces so he isn't being loaded with too much. It's also a very good price.

Then I decided to grab the 15 minute soak and serve. I soaked all of it and froze them how I do with the chop mix.

As an Eclectus owner I find it very, very difficult to find unfortified seed mixes. Volkman Avian Science Super Eclectus Seed mix is the only commercial seed I know of that is not fortified. Their other seed mixes ARE.

I use the Fancy Soak and Simmer which needs to soak overnight and cook for about 40 minutes. I just prefer the ingredients. It is a clean product and makes a nice base for my chop.

I've found that where you buy the product does make a huge difference as far as freshness goes -- even online which is the only way I can get it. I now buy right from Volkmans in Ceres, CA.

The downside for me on any product like this is that shipping often costs more than the product.

I think I may try the soak and simmer, it looked interesting.
