Three years! Three years it's taken us! But it happened! He got on my arm from his play perch of his own volition. There might have been cheese involved, but it happened!!!!

That is so exciting!!!!! Its like a gift!!!

Yay!!!!!

Thank-you, for your efforts! Your story is the one that we never hear about often enough.

Your success brings a happy smile to my face and great joy in my heart to simply see your Amazon on your arm!

Again - Thank-you!

Goofy is the bird I mention when people post frustrated at how long it's taking to make progress with a new bird. Now our situation is a little bit different. MrC has had him for 18 years, and Goofy is his bird. Over the years many people have tried to make friends with him, but he's a fiercely one person bird. MrC lived alone for much of those 18 years. His daughters were teenagers when he got Goofy and they soon moved out and began their own lives, and he had one long-term, live in girlfriend between his late wife's passing and meeting me over a decade later, and that girlfriend didn't like Goofy at all. But his daughters and sisters and some others have tried to make friends with him, but nobody has had any real success.

Then I entered the picture. I decided that I'm more stubborn than he is, and would take all the time he needed, slowly but surely making progress with him. At first it was simply getting him to not attack when I passed the cage, and we've progressed slowly from there. Today's breakthrough is huge. But it's taken a lot of patience and hard work. Three years is a long time to work with a bird for so little "payback", but in the end, when you have these major breakthroughs, it's so very worth it.

Congratulations! It takes a lot of love to win one of those little farts over. I was able to befriend my husband's blue front, and I guarantee cheese was involved.
