Is there a way to remedy this? As per the recommendation of a few people who have much more parrot experience than I, I have been taking Obie to a different room from his cage to let him get comfortable with me (as, and this makes sense to me, I will be the only familiar thing in an unfamiliar room and this will help him form a bond with me.) I don’t force him out of the cage or grab him and get him to step out by holding a piece of millet, and once we’re in the other room he’ll step up happily and let me scritch him and is comfortable (beak grinding, preening etc.) He just won’t let me get close to him inside his cage.
