Some may have seen me post about wanting to get a new bird and looking at all kinds of them to try and figure out what I'm looking for and I think we have made up our minds on this~

Both my mother and I are in agreement in getting a Yellow-collared Macaw~ I've read all I think I can on them and weighing them against all the other birds I've researched on I think that they are the best out of them. They just seem to appeal to me and my mother more then any of the others~

And as luck would have it, there is an aviary that breeds them right on the island (^^) I was starting to think that I wouldn't be able to find anyone that I could go to myself and I really wouldn't feel right about having a bird shipped... A quick car or train ride goes by faster and can be far less stressful I think, that and I really want to be able to interact with them first and have a say in which one I pick(or find out which one picks me)...

Though sadly I'm going to have to wait a whole year before I can get one because I both, missed the breeding season for them and he just got two new breeding pairs in that are most likely too young to breed this year anyways...

It's going to be a long year...

But this will give me more then enough time to get everything ready~
I already have a nice cage picked out and I'm going to be ordering it within a few months(though I guess I could hold that off for a bit longer) and I'm also looking into making a play-stand for downstairs so I'll be looking up some plans for that...

What would be some good woods to do that with?

Also, anyone got tips for good meal plans, activities, toys and such that the sites I've looked at so far may have missed? And maybe even links to sites that you think I should take a look at.

I am new to the world of macaws so any info you think I should know would be great.

But, I think I know all the basics about them and I have checked to find that there is an AAV avian vet a bit of a ways from me, but not too far, and my normal vet(who's office is just around the corner) also deals with birds, as well a 24hour vet hospital about 10-15 minutes from me as well (^^')
God... I feel like an over protective mother already, lol...
