Chances are a few people on this forum also read the weekly Cage and Aviary Birds newspaper, but I thought I'd mention it because its quite interesting and gives us one more great reason to provide our birds regular chances to bathe.
Sadly the piece isn't on the website but, since I have the issue the article is in (June 27 1018), I can provide a photo of it.

This might be another explanation why my macaw loves getting soaked so much! (Her feathers are a mess anyway .)
 
Just makes me think of how many birds who appear disheveled often look much better after a bath.
