My Alexandrine parrot Booger escaped about 4 months ago. I was distraught, as you would imagine, and got as proactive as possible trying to find him. I made flyers and posted them all round the neighbourghood, wrote to the newspaper who published his photo and my phone number on the back page (I was amazed, biggest newspaper in the country!!), and made a great big sign "LOST PARROT REWARD PH#" which I stuck up on a main road next to the park just down from my house.
So I got a million phonecalls which was great. People were SO helpful! I even got a call from a Journalism student at the university who had seen my sign and did her project on my missing bird! Unfortunately, all the calls came to nothing and I began to slowly accept that my lovely Booger was gone and I started to get on with my life.
I left the sign up by the park, and continued to get sporadic phonecalls of possible sighting (mostly of wild eastern rosellas I think), but eventually after a few months the council took down my sign. That was about a month ago.
Imagine my suprise when, driving home yesterday next to the park where my sign used to be, was a NEW sign, not put up by me, in the exact same place, reading:
"DID YOU FIND THE PARROT?????"
It really made me smile!! Someone had gone to all that trouble and obviously wondering what had happened =) I checked out the sign, no ph number or anything, but it really made my day!!
I think im going to go down there and attach a stuffed parrot holding a big 'NO' sign ....
