Once upon a time, there was a wonderful online community called "Parrot Forums.com", and...

Would it be possible to know a brief history about this place? Who started it, how it grew, how various decisions were made, how it became such a wonderful community? I don't mean to invade anybody's privacy or be intrusive. I'm just curious!

Maybe the story has already been told someplace? Updates would still be fun...

Gail, let me do some research so I can make sure I don't miss anything:)

Channeling the future, Gail? Best estimates for the demise of our sun is about 4 to 5 billion years from now. Of course ParrotForums will be online till the very last day!! (or whatever form it may take)

Okay...so the oldest post I can find was from June 18, 2005. It is located here:
http://www.parrotforums.com/announcements/1-welcome-new-parrot-forums.html

We are owned by Forum Foundry, and they have a multitude of other forums as well.

The Administrators and Moderators are listed here:
Parrot Forum - Parrot Owner's Community - Show Groups

Over the years, the Mods have changed but the love for parrots has always remained a constant. The forum started with just a few people, and has slowly grown into the forum we all now enjoy. We have a wonderful Admin team who adds the new forums, gives Supporting Membership to the winners of the POTM contests, and guides the Mods when we need some input.

Decisions are made by discussion among the Mods, and help from Admin when we need it. Every suggestion is discussed, and Admin makes the final call.

It has become such a wonderful community because of the wonderful members. With every post that helps a parrot or parront, with every sincere post of condolence, with every post of happiness when someone has a breakthrough with their bird, this community truly makes a difference in parrots and their parronts lives. That is what brings me here, day after day, and warms my heart.

Friendships have been forged that will last a lifetime, and that is an amazing thing.

I think we are absolutely the best parrot forum out there, and it is all due to every member here. I am honoured to be a part of this forum, and I thank you all for that:)

Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.................

Thank you for that, Terry, and Scott.

I agree with everything you said, Terry. It's amazing what a real human community can do. It's not that my friends and family weren't supportive, but... they didn't understand! But after I found this place, a situation involving somebody (ME) in a long-standing stand-off with a really difficult parrot (YOU-KNOW-WHO)... becomes a situation of camaraderie and support and maybe best of all, humor. Shared smiles.
