Sorry for posting twice in a few days.

To start, I'm currently handfeeding my new cockatiel still. I'm going to start attempting to wean her around the end of the month. Is this acceptable? She'll be about three months old then.

And secondly, I know happy huts and boxes and such can encourage nesting behavior. I have a patio perch, (Pictured below) if I were to create a small sleeve to go over it so it's soft, would that encourage my older cockatiel? She loves walking over towels and blankets because they're soft, so I want to give her another option since I had to remove her hut. Also pictured below is her food tray. Because it's enclosed, could that encourage this behavior?

Dark cozy places encourage breeding. I don't think the food dish or putting something soft over that perch would encourage breeding.

Do not "start weaning" your bird. Feed her until she no longer wants to be fed.

Can you do that??? From what I've heard they'll become spoiled and not want to eat unless it's from your hand.

No that's a complete myth. I'm a breeder and I practice only Abundance Weaning (feeding the babies until they refuse food). Force Weaning (reducing formula and forcing them to make it up in solids) is cruel and damages them mentally and emotionally.

Oh, thank you, I didn't know that. I'll do that with her then, how long do you think that'll be though?

Usually around 8-12 weeks but sometimes longer
