Hi everyone,

While I've continued to try to locate my Maui, a very nice elderly gentleman called me to tell me that he found and captured an "African GREEN Parrot", I've NEVER heard of one of those and I've been desperately trying to figure out what it is..... ANYWAYS.... He said that he's been trying to locate the owner, but, hasn't had an ounce of luck. He lives in a High-Rise Condo that does not allow pets of any sort what so ever, so, wanted to know if I'd like to adopt the bird from him. He says, he wanted the bird to go to someone who has experience with parrots and who he felt would give the parrot back to it's rightful owners, should I happen to find them. Of course, as you all know, I would in a heartbeat, because I'd hope someone else would do that for me.
He tells me the bird is primarily GREEN with a GREYISH head and beak, has specks of red on tips of his wings and has blue in his tail feathers.... I'm SO lost. The closest thing I came up with was a brown-headed Parrot, but, even THAT little guys doesn't completely fit the description, so, I thought you guys could help.
NOW, to be super honest, I really didn't WANT this bird, I'm still really mourning my baby and I already have other birds here that I have to make sure gets love and attention from me daily. The gentleman is so worried about the bird though and just really wants a good home for him, at least until the owners pop up somewhere.
Do any of you guys live near me? Would any of YOU be interested in this parrot? Do you think if you were interested, I could meet you some place so you could take the bird and give him a good home?
If not, no problem, I'm going to pick up the bird tomorrow and give him a good home, he needs love and this old man has come to really care for the bird, he would keep him himself, he's just not allowed and I just can't bare the thought of it going on craigslist for some idiot to end up with as a "money maker". GRRR... don't get me started on that. Ok... so..... chime in everyone, lets guess what this birds breed is by the description above, I don't have pictures, but, once I get him, I will post pics too. Wonder who's gonna be right! This should be kinda fun, hah?

Did he say about what size the bird is?

Could it be a male cape parrot? Cape Parrot - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If it's smaller it may even be a lovebird, I've seen some of them with green bodies, grey heads and blue tails, although I've never really seen one with red in the wings, yea, scratch that idea.

It almost seems like it has to be some kind of pionus.

Now it's going to bug me, can't wait to see a picture.

Yeah, I thought of a Quaker Parrot, too, but, he told me he knew for sure it wasn't a Quaker. So, when I was trying to look it up by their description, I was thinking the Cape Parrot or the Brown Headed Parrot seemed close. I'm waiting for him to call me back this morning for me to pick him up. I'll let you guys know asap.

what happened? did you get the bird and if you did what is it? I'm still checking the sarasota craigs list everyy day and saw your add again still have my fingers crossed for Maui thow I am having a hard time typing without spelling errors. The gentleman never returned my call this morning :( I'm not really sure why, he'd called me a couple of day's ago, asking me to return his call, I probably should have called him yesterday, however, I was just so busy and by the time I realized it, it was entirely too late to ring anyone. So, I presumed he still wanted me to have the bird, but, I very well could be wrong. He may be irritated that I wasn't able to get back to him until this morning....

Nonetheless, I'll let ya'll know as soon as I know something. Have a great evening!
