Sorry, I just really want to share the news that I finally landed a job because I really consider all of you part of my family in some way (or maybe a collection of crazy bird people?)!

But yeah, I've been wanting a job since I turned 14 and more so when I turned 15 -- I was practically dying for a job. And let me tell you, Disney Channel made it look so easy, I was excepting I could just yell out that " I NEED A JOB NOOOOOOOOOOOW" and someone will hire me on the spot. Well, that's not the case and by the end of reading over the manual and signing paperwork I had my hands on my temples hunched over the table for the tax part. (a foreshadow for my adult life)
I think Lion Dancing finally paid off because one of the members is pretty close with the manager so I got a huge step ahead of other people because of his recommendation for me.

I'm beyond excited to start on friday and raise money to finally buy a flight cage the budgies deserve!!! Will most likely stock up on a bunch of toys while I'm at it without looking at the price tag :D And I can start paying for vet bills and I can do all these things for them, it's overwhelming!!! [I can also maybe buy this amazing Sodalite or Prehnite crystal skull I've been dying over].

(Sorry, I'm still just so hyped! When I first found out I got it I was screaming at the zoo lol)

Lol. Congrats.
Just don't get too excited to be an adult. There's a certain point that you just want to curl up under a blanket fort in the fetal position.....

Thanks guys :)!
Hopefully I'll get a cashier position lol, I mean spending a whole day holding money? Count me in! If not, I really wouldn't mind working as a barista (its a Coffee Company).

Lol, I can totally understand already Doublete, I was reading about insurance -- I know its a good thing -- but I had no clue what they were talking about. Man, I'm so not ready to do taxes.

Stay a kid.

A long long long loooooong time.

Congrats, Reid! Someone made an excellent choice when they hired you, I know you'll be a great employee. I'm happy for you and your flock. A lot of young people would do well to follow your example. You have a very bright future to look forward to. Enjoy your first job and remember to have fun.

Congratulations Reid! :D I'm so happy for you. I know you'll make a great employee. It will be a nice feeling to have your own money too! You're lucky if they even offer health insurance at a job these days.

Give us an update once you've been working for a little while!

That's great! Be a good employee, and adult life can SOMETIMES be great :) I always try to be worth more to my boss than I get paid, no matter how "simple" the job. You are one of those rare teens who is RESPECTFUL, and that will get you a long way with bosses and customers!

That's something I'm really striving to do, at the zoo, I'm hopefully one of the favorite volunteers (fingers crossed) even though I show up only twice a week haha.
Thank you for the compliment :p lol, I always wanted to work in retail or in food and beverage company just to make friends with the customers....why? That's yet to be determined, I'm not that great in social situations but hopefully it'll help me improve. But now I got one of my "dream job" and its with my BFF, Coffee and Acai <3

And letting you know, you and Ariel are welcomed to visit any time ;) LOL

Besides having to get up at 7 in the morning, I think that it'll be a blast! I think there might be free coffee in the morning....not sure, but if there is WELL SIGN ME UP! I'm lucky enough to be in a setting (a mall) where it's really busy and where my friends also work/hangout. Really hoping they show up and keep me company haha

Congratulations, Reid! I remember well the excitement of starting my first job. There's just something about earning your own money that feels pretty good. Enjoy!

(Sorry, didn't say this earlier, but thank you all for the compliments! It's a real moral booster to strive more and work harder :p)

Not going to lie, I am so pumped up for the money....my mom said (and I quote) "your going to REALLY like your job after your first pat check".

They offer health/dental insurance which, frankly, I have no clue how to read it...yeah, i'm not sure what my benefits are. The dental would have been pretty good if I got a root canal later (but I'm lucky i got it done earlier) because it covered that too.

:DI took a part time job as a waitress because I enjoy the animals but found I still wanted to be around people once in awhile. It is fun.

Congrats on your first job! It's your first big step towards adulthood. You sound very excited it seems:). Being you are under 26 and not married, you don't need to worry about insurance. You are suppose to be on your parents insurance until one of those 2 things happen.

Congratulations and good luck, Reid!

I vividly remember my first job.... the break room TV was tuned to the Nixon Impeachment hearings!

So Reid, how about an update on the job? :) I hope everything is going well, you're learning a lot, and you're enjoying it! Nice to be getting paychecks huh?!

Gah! I was thinking I forgot something lol  it's been so hectic, I've barely gotten time to go on my laptop,, so I've just been picking here and there on the forums

Overall, I REALLY like this job :)
I had training for the first two weeks, and in the first three days everything wass pretty much thrown at me and it was kind of intense IMO...man working for only 5 hours was KILLING me! I was so lucky to train in the morning so if it wasn't busy I would have been dismissed early to sleep at home lol.

My legs are getting pretty used to it now, I've been working full time getting shared tips too so thats a huge plus (about $10 dollars a day). The staff is SO SO SO friendly, like everyone is really understanding and always offering tips to improve, because I am still pretty far from being really good. My only minor complaint is that sometimes I end up closing so I get home at either 10-11 but thankfully I take care of everything before I go (I would start at 3). Right now, I work as a cashier or runner/floater that goes around helping whoever needs help.

Probably my favorite part is that I get to eat an Acai bowl every day for lunch :D:D:D and that my uniform is Tori Richards (ya-know, for my expensive taste LOL :32: ). ...

Great to hear Reid :D! It does take a little time to get used to everything, but it's always so nice when your co-workers are friendly and helpful. Sounds like you're adjusting well. I'm glad your first job experience has been a positive one! :)
