Almost midnight and I just finished reading Non-Profit Bookkeeping and Accounting For Dummies. I am so boring. Such a nerd. Got the website revised. Itā€™s too disjointed. It still takes too long to load, so a little more paring down. All I need is a landing page with a link to here for the impatient, with a little more info for the methodical. Then I can start experimenting with google to finagle Wikibeaks into the results. And experiment with Wikibeaks to finagle people to PF.

The more I wade through the weeds the more convinced I am to keep the project small for now. I have part of an emergency/medical site done, and it will be good some day, but it will have to wait. Still a lot of technical stuff to learn, so I havenā€™t been able to write here very much, but I look every day and enjoy listening in on the conversations. What an engaged site! Is this place great or what? (Hint: itā€™s great!)

Call on me for anything you think I might be able to do for Wikibeaks.
Please.

I think Wikibeaks looks great! Fast loading with IE, Chrome, and Firefox, a bit slower with IOS.

The time and effort you are putting into this resource is wonderful. Thank you!

Thank you, such an important website. Your passion & dedication is greatly appreciated by both us humans and all those parrots you help now and in the future. Well Done!

Y'all are all a bunch of sweeties.

Well what do you know, midnight again....I redid the whole site, taking out almost all the information in the columns, and putting links to Parrotforums up top. Google was complaining about the loading speed so all the nice images came out, too. Made no difference from Google's view, so I sent the performance report to Wix to see if they can help me optimize anything else. I gave up on the Wix ADI editor because it's too limited, and it turns out the regular editor has a Mobile view, so I tried to optimize that, too. I don't know how well the site will display on anything but fairly new IOS and Android versions.

I think it's good enough to start testing AdWords. Once that is working, then I can go back and begin adding more information and links. I just don't know how much to invest in Wix...the hosting is nearly free since it's a non-profit, but the site has Wix ads on it. I have a hosting account all set up on Bluehost so I can migrate to WordPress, and I suppose the next question will be whether to do any more significant development on the Wix platform or just bite the WordPress bullet and learn more crap.

I'm getting tired of learning things, frankly. I really thought by this time in my life I would be some kind of expert master, and it turns out all I am is a rank beginner, every day. I suppose there are worse things.

If anybody does have time to look at wikibeaks.org, it would be great to let me know of any errors or problems or things that just ain't right. I don't have a smartphone right now so I can't test the mobile version at all.

Funny...I have notebooks with page after page of ideas, diagrams, articles, flowcharts, and wasn't getting anything online. Going back to the basics at least let me get started. It's so tempting to jump ahead, but none of the advanced work can happen without the foundation in place. Hmm, kind of like working with a rescue parrot, come to think of it. Have some more phone book, Gus.

Oh boy! It isn't even midnight, and I registered WikiBeaks with Google AdWords for non-profits and created an ad. Now I just wait for my application and ad to be approved. This is the whole reason I started this project! Get into search results and then link people right back to the info they need, which right now is PF. Later there really will be useful info on the WikiBeaks site, because I want people to come and stay and learn. But then they need to join the community. If enough people know about the parrots out there maybe the parrots can stay out of the basement.

I just gave myself a little tour of the site. LOOKS GREAT!
The text is wondereful.
I also tested the donation and email-contact thingies!
I hope you'll let me know if there is anything I can do... research... paperwork... testimonial!

Thanks, GG. I canā€™t test the mobile stuff myself, so it helps to get feedback. As far as contributors... I hope to separate the idea of Wikibeaks from myself personally. The founding inspiration was to set up the organization not to recreate the wheel, but to connect new people to places like this one where they can get real time help and support. You are so active here, and so generous with your advice, encouragement, and support and thatā€™s more than enough. Still, think of Wikibeaks as a platform for your free use. This is for everybody, if you want to write an article, or help search PF for good threads etc. to link to, great! It will be slow to get going because the foundation is not complete so right now Iā€™m the bottleneck!

Hmmmm! Sounds like you are suffering from one of life's realities: "One continues to Learn new things! The unending body is huge beyond belief! New things enter the field the moment you have a grasp on the current, now old technology! Hours, days, weeks, months and years pass, only to be faced with even more new things."

"At some point, you are asked a question and you provide an answer, only to be complimented on how much you know!"

The reality of a Life Spend Learning New Things! Unless, we choose to Stop, it is never ending and that is a Very Good Thing!

What you are developing is a Truly Wonderful Creature!
Thank-You, for what you are doing!

Yes, I feel I am pushing back the boundaries of ignorance. The universe of what I donā€™t know increases by leaps and bounds!

I may be tired, but Iā€™m not bored.

Oh well, Google thinks the WikiBeaks website is "nonfunctional" which I think means not enough information, and I may need to move the PF link a little further down. RATS! Will keep working on it. And thanks to those who tested out all the buttons! I won't let you down.
