He has been slowing down a little with his feet. Trips a little more, little more shaky on one foot, and some trouble stepping up with his one foot. I started him on Avitech Herbal Bird Rx Arthritis Formula Pain Relief Bottle and he is moving a little more smoothly already after a few weeks on it.

I'm sorry to hear he has arthritis but it's good the remedy you've been using is helping. He looks good otherwise.

Kelly is 36 years old. Not that old really but he spent 20 some years in a small cage on a dowel perch. He bit his owner in the face during hormone time and she wouldn’t handle him after that and left him to sit in the cage. The family eventually surrendered him to the shelter where he spent a few months trying to convince me I should take him home. He has always moved a little weirdly but it wasn’t too noticeable until recently. I’ve had him for about 3 1/2 years now.

has anyone ever heard of using nigella sativa seeds for parrots? there are many studies on it being extremely beneficial for almost all animals including birds. I know some people give the seed to wild birds so I'm positive it's safe for parrots. the seeds are supposed to be good for arthritis and respiratory problems, both which are prevalent to parrots. I have some of this plant growing and plan on adding some of the seeds to my bird friend's diet occasionally for a boost of nutrition. medicine is good but sometimes nature is the best medicine as it balances everything out.

This isn’t a vet prescribed medicine. Just a herbal one you can buy at any bird store. Has many of the same ingredients that I’ve used on old horses or ones with feet issues. Ingredients: Alfalfa leaf, Stinging Nettles leaf, Cornsilk, Devil’s Claw root, Shavegrass stem (horsetail), Fenugreek seed, Yucca Root, and Black Walnut Hulls in a kosher certified vegetable glycerine/purified water base.

I’m not sure on the sativa. I’ve never heard of it or tried it but I hope it works for you! I’d be hesitant to try it until I’ve heard of birds on it more myself since I wouldn’t know what levels are safe.

Demon? That face? Nahhhhh!

Glad you are able to offer some relief form arthritis.
