Edgar (11.5 week old Alex) is making a sound that almost sounds like grinding teeth. Is this normal?

Beak grinding usually means your bird is happy, content and preparing to sleep. :)

A good sound. Happiness and settling in for bed :-) Diesel does it every evening when he tucks himself into the corner of his cage for the evening xoxox

Love that sound! It means my Beaks are happy and at rest. :)

Rio does that too but not only at night . I can hear him in the day too specially when he is on my shoulder in the afternoon . He has also got out food from his mouth and puts it in my ears and loves nibbling my eyelashes. Is this normal? I tend not to encourage him sitting on my shoulders as I am wary of the bright red beak even tho he has never bit anybody.
Also I have a mango tree branch which will be placed in his cage as a perch . Is there any precaution I need to take before I place it in his cage?
