Odd possible problem

African Grey Timneh
I guess I may have shown too much interest in Timneh's venting. She probably noticed me checking it out to see how everything seems to be going. So now I think Timneh waits till I open the cage in the morning to do a large venting. She comes running out to the top of the cage or the top perch section turns around and launches a giant one. I don't know how it started but it's happened the last several days now. I don't want any self inflicted pain here. Seems to go freely when out of the cage. Haven't started potty training yet. Any suggestions? Do I just have too much stuff in there doesn't want to poop or her things?

Very normal for birds not to poo all night long until the morning. My CAG unloads some horrible things every morning and he usually waits for me to take him out to do the deed! As long as your grey is eliminating normally during the daytime, I wouldn't worry.

Is this a new behavior? Hard to know whether this is a sign of cleanliness or just the normal morning splat!

We've only been together for 3 weeks now and I would say it started about a week ago. I would look at the papers to see what had happened in the morning. I come downstairs at different times and I wasn't sure that Timneh was waiting for me till the last couple of days. She really sprints for the top or the perch which ever i open first I think. LOl There are definitely less mess' on the papers in the cage the last couple of days. Timneh has no problem pooping on my though. LOL

Gerty, a CAG I was thinking of adopting years ago, would wait til he/she got on her/his roof top..walk to the edge..turn around..squat..then GRUNT,and let out this HUGE bomb  I swear I have never seen such a disgusting dumpage in all my life! Must have been holding it in all night!
Then the rest of the day, everything was "normal" lol..really..it was quite amazing lol

Yep Salty is the same. Holds it all nite and first thing when he gets uncovered is to leave the parrot equivalent of a logjam. I forget some times and take him out before he goes and Whoops, new shirt time.

Yep... hello from PLANET PATAGONIA...
His majesty oftem holds a gigantic ceremonial POOP for his morning outiing!

I usually wake up to poop on a perch attached to the inside of the cage door. Perjo's favorite swing perch is located above it, and I usually slide the hook a few inches from the door when I say goodnight but I think she slides it back close to the door.

Also just this past week I have finally got Perjo trained to poop on verbal command when perched on my index and middle fingers, and she does it about 90% of the time. She is impatient with trying to go from my hand to my shoulders, but she is starting to understand that if she poops first she can get up on my shoulder quicker.

Thats awesome guys lol. Thank you I just noticed today that Timneh waited for me to get home from work to go again. I don't cover the cage at night. I turn off the lights and up on her favorite toy to sleep she goes, and thats it. I haven't started to potty train yet I was too scared she would hold it too long. So i wanted to do more research.
