Our senior hen, Kiki (about 10 now) has been sitting for the last month. She makes her nests out in the open on the follow of the cage and has been happy to do that for years. We try to restrict her breeding but she had a few kids last year, and was sitting on 3 eggs this year.
In any event, she is still sitting but has buried her eggs in the nest. She pops off and adds to the nest and comes out for paper etc, but there is no sign that these eggs (wherever they are now, cant find them!) will hatch. But she is still sitting on and off, and so is her man, who is quite happy to sex her up from time to time on the nest.
This is atypical for her, has anyone seen this before? We dont know when to take the nest and old eggs away - I was thinking to leave it for another week or so.
